On June 24, 2022 the Supreme Court took away the constitutional right to an abortion abandoning almost 50 years of judicial precedent and pathing the way forward for state implemented bans and restriction on abortions. Join with us today in support of reproductive healthcare and rights as we continue to fight for bodily autonomy. Proceeds from this event will benefit Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania and their continued work to provide and increase access to abortion services.

Join us on Saturday, 6/22 from 12-4pm to support Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania and the fight for reproductive rights! Start with a ride at Revel Ride from 12pm-1pm, then head down South Street to Jet’s Wine Garden for a picnic-style cocktail cookout from 1pm-4pm, with a bonus Sisterly Love bake sale out front of Jet. The cookout will feature both all-beef and vegan hotdogs (complete with classic condiments of course) and a plethora of sides cooked by some of the best chefs in Philly’s hospitality community. Organized in part by Philly dining scene experts, the Godmother herself @sharonthompsonschill and prolific blogger & recipe creator @mackies_meals, 100% of proceeds from this event will be donated to Planned Parenthood SEPA.

Join us in our wine garden on Tuesday, 6/11 at 6.30pm to taste your way through a lineup of five Slovenian wines in the Vinum Imports portfolio, each with a paired food course, led by winemaker Matic Rodica. Learn about the country’s indigenous grapes, try authentic Slovenian food pairings, ask the winemaker himself questions about his processes, all while enjoying a beautiful night in the Jet Wine Garden. On June’s First Friday, 6/7, we will be welcoming resident South Street West and local Philly artist Meei Ling to the wine bar as a special guest for the evening to celebrate the opening of her summer art show at Jet! Come and meet the artist and enjoy a special menu featuring some of our best selling vegan snacks, HH beverages, and a special mocktail inspired by Meei Ling and her artwork. Join us for round two of Jet’s Taco Thursdays! Last month’s was a hit despite the drizzly weather, so if you missed out on May’s make sure you come through to June’s. From 5-9pm on Thurs 6/6, Jet’s Chef de Cuisine, Jacob Fram, will be serving up a menu of tacos inspired by his travels in Mexico City — each with wine pairing options, of course! For a second year in a row, Philly’s own Lula’s Empanadas will be popping up in the wine garden! When Yaslyn Lora was only 5 years old, she began assisting her mother, Lula, in the kitchen while she cooked empanadas for their large family gatherings. This Dominican tradition is continued through Lula’s Empanadas, with their crispy fried pastry shells and delicious, intriguing fillings — perfect on a late spring day in the garden. And, of course, us being Jet, we will have a wine pairing for each of these bad boys (check out the menu here!).

Join us on Wednesday, May 22nd at 6.30 PM to sip your way through the Caucasus region of Western Asia at Jet Wine Bar! Meet new people who are also traveling through Philadelphia, try and learn about interesting wines from Armenia and the Republic of Georgia (as well as “visit” various tourist attractions along the way), and snack on food pairings. As one of the only bars in Philadelphia featuring Ancient World wines, started by archaeologist and owner Jill Weber back in 2010, Jet is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in the wide world of wine (or just things that taste good and learning about them!). This event is in collaboration with City Wide Social, who creates social opportunities for solo travelers and diners through a communal food or beverage experience. Can you believe we’re already at #6 in our Road Trip Wine Tasting series? This time we’re heading to another classic Ancient World wine country – Turkey! Join us on a journey via wine through the crossroads of east and west, as we explore the country’s various wine regions by sipping on some bottles, each with a paired food course, and visit virtual tourist attractions. With summer winding down, it’s boutta be indoor wine tasting season again! Join us for the second of our Wine Road Trip series, this time journeying through Portugal via its delicious and eclectic wines. We’ll be joined by Steve Wildy, owner of Cloche Wine Co, who will be walking us through a selection of five Portuguese wines from his portfolio, each from a different region. Serving up Southern-inspired food utilizing fresh & local ingredients, if you’ve had Chef Joy’s food before you know that it is NOT to be missed out on! With one of the biggest pop up menus we’ve had all year and wine pairings for both entrees, make sure to stop by on Saturday, 8/5 from 5-9pm for a perfect summer dinner in our urban oasis. Starting from Friday, August 4th and running through the early winter, Sojourn’s own bartender & artist John Thomas Emory will be displaying four of his works in the indoor bar at Jet. All paintings are for sale, with details and purchasing available through his website and $100 of each sale being donated to ATL Solidarity to assist in defending the Weelaunee forest against its razing for the construction of Cop City. John will be bartending for the opening night & serving up a special Cynar Black Manhattan signature cocktail alongside our regular bar menu, with complimentary bites available.

About the Artist:

Reminiscent of the DIY aesthetics of underground media, this work relies on tried-and-true cut-and-paste equations combining printmaking and roughshod painting techniques. Made with mediums and surfaces more likely obtained at a hardware store, marks are made either spontaneously or with malice aforethought resulting in a heuristic and hastened application and process. A transfer of images over multiple analog steps further skews the perception and vantage point of the viewer. Images appear and disappear, painted over, leaving little but the ghost of that which came before them.

About ATL Solidarity:

The fight against ecological destruction and racialized violence in the US and beyond are inextricably linked. Today, climate collapse disproportionately affects disadvantaged groups such as Atlanta's Black communities. Rather than investing in solutions to the environmental crisis, governments are investing in heavier policing, especially of those disadvantaged groups. Atlanta's tree canopy is one of its main sources of resiliency in the face of climate change. Nevertheless, the police are set to bulldoze every inch of it. The period of planetary climate collapse that we are all living in will continue to pose urgent and unsettling questions to our species as we fight for dignity in a world of increasingly dangerous wildfires, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, and mass extinction.

Rather than address the problems as they present themselves, world and local leaders are hurling us into the fire. As we fight for a life worth living, the system seems prepared to prop up its petroleum-based economy with tear gas and lines of riot police. Defend the Forest/Stop Cop City is one part of a larger struggle dedicated to opening up a different path forward.
